Our latest day trip was to Tokushima.
Tokushima is located in the eastern side of the Shikoku Island. Our final destination was “Kazura Bridge ” (Kazura Bashi). Along the way, we stopped by some wonderful places. Let me show you around
Our guide on the day was Mee Chan from Awa city Tokushima.
We started from Kobe and we stopped by:
①Akashi kaikyo bridge
a great view of the bridge and Akashi can be seen from the rest-stop immediately after the bridge . Here you have the opportunity to have something to eat, enjoy a relaxing coffee or do some souvenir shopping.
②Seto Naikai National Park
There are several scenic viewing areas within the National Park. There is an interesting abandoned building that has a wonderful view of the sea and island landscape. Being a building in ruins, it is not an advertised visitor spot. Nevertheless, we found it interesting as it made us try and imagine what the building was like in its hay-day. After a little bit of searching, we discovered that it used to be a hotel. Rumor has it is that it is a haunted building!
③Lunch time! at the seafood restaurant Uzushio
I wanted to eat both sashimi and tempura!Ahhhh too many choices…Finally, I ordered the Sashimi combo and my partner ordered tempura combo. It was really fresh and delicious. There is another nice seafood restaurant called “Binbinya”
④Energy drink Awa Rise.
They have two flavours: Sudachi and Yuzu.My friend told me that if we buy it from a vending machine, the machine will emit an interesting sound. We put in the coins and pressed the button to select the drink. However it did not sound…Anyway the drink was tasty and refreshing.
What is Citrus Sudachi ?
⑤Japanese style donut
Mee chan told me that there is a famous Donuts shop near Tokushima station. Before departing, we checked their business hours and they are apparently closed every Tuesday.Although we went there on a Monday, they were temporarly closed for the day.We will try another time.
(Before going there, I suggest you check their website, Instagram and Facebook accounts to confirm their business hours )
⑥Toyotomi Coffee Shop
We were planning to go to another coffee shop, but they were also closed today. However, as we needed a coffee!!we found this shop.Being a specialty coffee café, they have a lot of choices We had Blended coffee and Affogato (vanilla ice-cream topped with espresso coffee). The coffee was good, the atmosphere was pleasant and the owner was very friendly. He gave us a tour of the café (including showing us his coffee trees) and even let us look at his secret rooms. haha!
It is a lovey shop.
When you order your gelato, you can choose between a cup or a cone, and have either a single, double or triple scoop.
Even if you choose triple scoop it is only 410yen!
On that day they had Pineapple, Blueberry, Mango, Fig, Red beans, Milk, Pumpkin, Chocolate mint , Chocolate, Macha, and Purple sweet potato.
The store atmosphere is wonderful as it has a spacious area to relax and enjoy your gelato in air-conditioned comfort! Enjoy!
Finally… We arrived at IYA VALLEY.
Iya Valley is know for its beautiful scenery. Iyanokazurabashi (祖谷のかずら橋) is a famous bridge in the valley. It got its name as the bridge is made from mountain vines (kazura かずら).
There is a ridge made of mountain vines(Kazura)
Crossing the bridge is scary but I am certain you will enjoy the thrill.
